Lucio Looks Back At Stamford Bridge: "Drogba Made Me Exhausted"

From the pages of the Guardian, the Inter and Brazil defender Lucio reveals his impressions on these few days before the World Cup.  "We have a strong group.  Most of us have never won this competition so I suppose that we will have even more the hunger," said Lucio.

Brazil are in Group G with The Ivory Coast of Drogba, who already faced Lucio in the round of 16 in the Champions League.  "He is one of the best strikers that I've ever faced, both on the technical point of view and his physicality.  I was devastated after the match at Stamford Bridge that I hardly could move."

Just Like Barca, Roma Fans Disturbing Inter Players So They Can't Sleep

Posted on May 4, 2010 at 7:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Jose Mourinho has said: "We are used to not sleeping in case of the disturbance by the fans."  And they did.  Already in the hours for Inter, in Rome, at the "Rome Cavalier" hotel, where they are staying for the tomorrow game in the Coppa Italia, a group of 100 supporters according to the rumors from QSVS, are implementing a pentolada (not sure that this word means).  The act of disturbance against the Inter players with pots, just like what happened in Barcelona a week ago.

In addition, around 23:00, Balotelli and Arnautovic came out of their room to see what is happening on the street.  The two players, after a few seconds, were targeted by the choirs such as: "Throw Balotelli down below", after that they both came back to the room.

Cordoba Ready To Replace Lucio

Posted on May 4, 2010 at 12:02 PM Comments comments (0)

The Colombian ahead of Materazzi and he will replace the Brazilian.

Lucio will have to rest for two matches, thus being preserved for the last game with Siena and the final in Madrid.  The visit to "Paideia" center showed the contracture, but not to the level of tendon-muscle.  Ivan Cordoba will therefore take place for the Selecao captain, who will return in time for the last two matches of the season.  Cordoba is in the lead over Marco Materazzi and with Walter Samuel, it was the Inter defense for the last three years.

Goran Pandev however is visibly improving.  The Macedonian, disappointed after not taking part in the game with Barcelona, has everything to be present against Roma, as the hematomain the rectus femoris did not prevent him from training yesterday.  He will have more decisive tests today.  With the former Lazio player on the field, Jose Mourinho will field a 4-2-3-1 with Eto'o, Sneijder and him in support to the lone striker Milito.  But with the absence of the number 27, 4-1-4-1 might be the one with Cambiasso in front of the defense, Maicon and Eto'o on the wings wide, Sneijder and Stankovic in the middle to support Diego Milito.

Lastly, Davide Santon, has been working on his injury with a personal recovery program.  In 2 weeks, the kid will be back in Barcelona for the next visit.

Resting Lucio is a logical thing.  Too important to risk anything.

INTER PAW FINAL

Posted on April 14, 2010 at 12:12 AM Comments comments (0)

COPPA ITALIA: A goal of Eto'o put out Fiorentina and open the doors to the Olimpico.  It is played on May 5: the other finalist will come from Udinese-Roma.

THE FINAL IS ETO'O'S

Inter this time ruin Florence and await Roma.

The Cameroonian decided the return leg of the semi-final.  The Nerazzurri acquire the pass to the Olimpico.

Florence - The real Special One was in the Curva Fiesole.  Stefano Borgonovo was the guest of honor of the evening and with his eyes he saw an triumphant walk by Inter.  The team of Mourinho conquered a place in the final of the Italian Cup by beating Fiorentina 1-0.  Decided by the magic of Eto'o, the only Inter player to score in all competitions.  An important statistic.  After in the game in the championship which cost Inter the top spot in the standings, this time it was different.  It was decided on tactics, balance of Mou and the personality of warriors such as Lucio, Materazzi and Javier Zanetti.  Inter showed that they have digested the passing of Roma and its readiness to revive itself to challenge for the Scudetto and the Champions League as they are waiting for Juventus and Barcelona.  Fiorentina, however, were stopped to find the first trophy for Della Valle and Prandelli.  Now the Viola must try to regain a spot in Europe through the league.  They have five games to surpass Napoli or Juve.  Not a simple task.

The key This time there are no inventions.  Mou draws a regular Inter with a cautious 4-1-4-1.  Captain Zanetti is in front of the box to protect the defense, Maicon (attacking version) and Balotelli were on the wings as Vargas and De Silvestri waited for them.  A mini bunker, with nine men behind the line of the ball.  The idea works.  In the first twenty minutes, Fiorentina were bouncing against the wall recreated by Inter and at the same time Inter also created several chances on the counterattacks which concluded badly between Eto'o and Balotelli.  Then, here comes the first crack.  Gilardino, a master at finding spaces inside the penalty area, found two good occasions.  At 25th minute, the central striker controlled an impossible ball and put it pass Julio Cesar but Lucio saved it on the goal line.  Five minutes later, Chivu blocked a great shot by Gilardino.  Mou's defensive strategy for the most part did well to emphasize in his precious notes.

Magic Eto'o  Inter were late for several minutes after the break (for superstitious motive?).  However, Fiorentina were in a hurry.  The problem is that the wall of Inter is an annoying obstacle.  Not only that, four or five men were parts of Mou's defensive plan.  At the 3rd minute, Balotelli took a beautiful shot from twenty-five meters but Frey was there and deflected for a corner.  It was the first shot on goal for Inter.  The ice was broken.  From this moment on, the Nerazzurri were always the masters of the field.  And at the 12th minute they finally achieved the qualifying goal.  Lovely touch by Thiago Motta which freed Eto'o in the area, Eto'o controlled the ball well and blew it pass Frey.

In Keirrison Prandelli then tried to invent something by putting in Keirrison and Santana for Vargas and Marchioni.  Both disappointing.  Mou responded with Milito and Cambiasso for Eto'o and Balotelli.  Just to lock up the result even more.  An excessive caution give that Eto'o has deflated Fiorentina just like a balloon.  The qualification faded away but the Viola still tried to go for at least a goal from this bitter semi-final.  But they couldn't find the goal.  Inter were the master of the game.  The game ended with a song: "All on you feet for Borgonovo."

Sneijder: "Offensive Gesture? Lies, A Joke With My Teammates"

On the rumors about the gesture in Florence, Wesley Sneijder was very angry:  "It's a big lie - clarifies the Dutch midfielder, I didn't make any offensive gestures toward the fans coming out of the field and I have nothing against them, I was just joking with my teammates."

Italian Cup: Fiorentina 0-1 Inter

vs.

And... we are through to the final of the Italian Cup.  I'm happy and pleased but not that excited.

Don't understand the subs by Mou after the goal of Eto'o.  There is no need to play Milito and Cambiasso and at the same time, Balotelli needs some playing time to and what did he do?  He subbed Milito for Balotelli and Cambiasso for Eto'o.  Don't understand it at all.  But Mou chose to play smartly.  Playing 5-3-2 on defense and 3-5-2 on offense and after the goal it was all 5-4-1.  Super defensively approach but it was understandable.

Anyway, I want Roma in the final.  I refuse to believe that they are better than us and I want to revenge.  By the way what is up with the final being in Rome for another year in the running...

INTER: GOAL AND SPARKS

COPPA ITALIA: Semi-final first leg.  Return is April 14th

Decided as usual by Milito.  Beat Fiorentina (1-0).

Mourinho - Balotelli: "He didn't do his duty".

Inter: Goal and Fight

Balotelli inspired the 1-0 and then angered Mourinho.

The Nerazzurri are playing with confident, while Fiorentina are prudent.  The return leg is open.

Milan - Inter can definitely complain about the size of victory against Fiorentina.  The team of Mou would love to score more to reassure the return in April.  But the 1-0 is not as skimpy as it seems nor does it contradict the recent success against AC Milan and Juventus.  Indeed, it was extended.  Even yesterday they felt a new serenity, a sign of security and personality uprights.  The Nerazzurri had taken control of the game, driving safely with the elbow out the window, certainly that their superiority would transformed into goals.  In this scenario of serenity we see the new episode of problematic coexistence between Balotelli and Mourinho.  In the middle of second half, Mario lost his contact lens in the attack.  The Special One waves his arms, inviting him to come back to defense where the team is suffering.  Balotelli was replaced shortly after and this time he waves his arms as he was leaving.  Even though that Mou saw him assisting MIlito for the goal, also to Maicon and Pandev, Pasqual had to save the goal on the line.

  • The special fan: Eto'o returned to Coppa Italia with a troubled foot, attended Inter - Fiorentina a little bit on the bench and a little bit in the tunnel.  And applauded.
  • Anger of Mou: On a corner kick for Fiorentina, Mourinho talks to Balotelli because he was distracted and not defending.  The player responded and said that he was hurt.
  • The gloves of Balotelli: And a few minutes later, at the 23rd minute in the second half when Mou replaces him.  Balotelli throws the gloves down and leave the field muttering.  The coach ignores him.
  • The debut of Mariga: At the 46th minute in the second half, Mariga, the latest coup of the market in January, made his debut in the Nerazzurri shirt and Mou gives him the first indications.

Inter forward Seeing the sign of caution for Fiorentina, Mourinho then goes to find the 2-0.  Muntari left for the dressing room for Pandev, together to form the 4-2-3-1.  It is also thanks to these messages of courage that Inter are growing in esteem and personality.  12th minute in the second half, Frey had to perform a miracle to stop Pandev's shot.  Infected by the spriiet of the collegue, at last, Prandelli then brings in Jovetic to be like Inter tactically: 4-2-3-1, he continued with Marchionni and ended with Ljajic.  The lift offensively by the Viola can make them proud, it also facilitated the replacement of Balotelli.  Fiorentina take home a defeat that leaves minimal expectations.  But i

Coppa Italia: Inter 1-0 Fiorentina

Milito scores his 15th goal in 25 games as the Nerazzurri gain an upper hand in the first leg of this semi-final tie.

MILAN - Diego Milito's 15th goal in 27 games proved the difference as Inter defeated Fiorentina 1-0 in the first leg of their Tim Cup semi-final to make it eight home wins in a row.

José Mourinho brought in Muntari for Thiago Motta on the left side of midfield and Milito for Pandev in attack to face the Viola. Otherwise, the Nerazzurri were unchanged from the side that ousted Juventus in the quarter-finals last week.

After a slow start at the Giuseppe Meazza it was the visitors who had the first real chance when Montolivo latched on to Santana's pass and fired wide.

But Inter gradually slipped into gear and Maicon combined beautifully with Balotelli to rip open the Fiorentina defence before forcing a punched block from Frey with a first-time shot.

The goal came eleven minutes before the break when Santon played down the left to Balotelli who left Natali for dead and played low into the six-yard box where Milito was on hand to slot home.

Suddenly, Fiorentina had a game on their hands and Vargas sent his low drive wide after an inch-perfect pass from Gilardino.

More danger followed when Vargas' right-wing free kick dipped on target, but Toldo  was alert to the threat and the veteran keeper tipped over.

Inter came back at the visitors and Balotelli was unlucky not to double his team's lead on the stroke of half time, his powerful header cleared off the line by Pasqual.

Fiorentina made their intentions clear at the start of the second half when Santana saw his shot saved by Toldo, but Inter matched their opponents blow for blow and had a goal ruled out on 57 minutes. Pandev saw his shot blocked by Frey and Milito pounced on the rebound and fired home, only for the flag to go up for offside.

Stevan Jovetic had plenty of chances for Prandelli's side after coming on as a substitute, but failed to deliver as the visitors produced a flurry of chances and Toldo made a series of saves.

Inter soaked up the pressure and went close with a trademark curling free kick that flew inches wide of Frey's right-hand post.

Latest signing MacDonald Mariga stepped out for his first few minutes in an Inter shirt in stoppage time, coming on for Sneijder who left the pitch to applause after another polished performance.

The show wasn't over as Pandev and Milito twice combined to devastating effect in the closing seconds, but a useful second goal didn't come.

The return leg at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence will take place on Wednesday 14 April.

Not a very exicting game to watch.  Balotelli was great in the first half but then he continues to act like a little baby when he was subbed out by Mourinho.  Where is that Balotelli + 20-25 million for Fabregas when you need it?

Milito scores another goal? Who would've thought?!

Mou: "We Want The Final"

Posted on February 3, 2010 at 12:20 AM Comments comments (0)

APPIANO GENTILE - José Mourinho wants his team to go one better than last year's Coppa Italia run. "If you get to the semi-final it's normal to want to reach the final," he told journalists in the pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's first leg against Fiorentina. "But it won't be easy against Fiorentina and the return leg is in April. I don't like it, but this is how it is. We don't know how we will be then, whether both teams are still in the Champions League or just one, whether there are injuries or tiredness and so on. We don't know how it will be for either team.

"It will be a bit strange to play the first leg now and the second two months later. It's like playing the first half of a match now, going home, and then coming back to play the second half two months later. But we obviously want to win tomorrow and we want a result that will give us a good chance of qualifying in April.

"All of my players are available. I will obviously take into consideration that we have played three matches in eight days, so I will rotate a few players. I will try to field a strong team that can get us a good result, but we know there are zones on the pitch where we can't rotate. My team? Lucio and Sneijder will play, and so will Milito. Toldo will play too, but that mistake last week wasn't Toldo's. It was Silvino's..."

Mourinho then welcomed MacDonald Mariga to Inter: "I'm satisfied with his arrival. He's an extra option in midfield. We have Krhin back in midfield too and we have regained this balance that we lost with the departure of Patrick and the injuries. Mariga trained with us for the first time today, we know he is back from an injury but he seems fit to play. He's not a finished product and I like him for this because he's young, he has to grow. He's for today, but also for the future. He has to work a lot to get to the top but I like him. He will help us restore balance. Simplicio and Ledesma? I hope they're happy."

February is a busy time for the Nerazzurri, with seven matches from now to the end of the month. "There are a lot of matches to play in all three competitions in this hard month of February," said the Inter boss. "There are weeks with three league matches, which means nine points. These are decisive weeks."

Inter are an improved team compared to last year, says Mourinho. "The team that loses one of the best players in the world is obviously a team that generates lots of question marks. This is what happened when we sold Ibrahimovic. But we know what we have done since. Everyone can see what us coaches and those at the club have done. And what the players have done. We haven't won anything yet, but the reality is that the team is playing better football now than last year, and it's not a coincidence."

Mariga To Play Against Fiorentina

The debut of the new Inter midfielder could be on Wednesday at the Meazza, when Inter take the field against Fiorentina in the first leg of Coppa Italia.  With the absence of Stankovic and non-optimal conditions of Cambiasso, the young man could very well be the starter.

Teammates Embrace Toldo After Debacle

MILAN - Anyone can make a mistake and sometimes you don't forget them easily. It happened to Francesco Toldo in last night's win over Juventus, but with the support of his team-mates and the fans, the Italian goalkeeper made sure the Bianconeri didn't add to Diego's early goal.

Inter Finish Ciro

COPPA ITALIA: Lucio e Balotelli answer to the goal from Diego (2-1): the men of Mou are in the semifinals.

Dancing Inter

Balotelli's goal.  Juve are out, also Ferrara

Diego deluded the Bianconeri, Lucio even the score and then Super Mario score at the last minute.

Between the 2-0 to Milan and 2-1 to Juventus, the only changes are how Inter found the victory, but again deservedly so.  On Sunday, they attacked their opponents, scoring immediately with Milito and then closed the game with Pandev.  This time, they are forced to move up the ladder after the gift to Diego.  So here is another test of character with two new scorers, first was Lucio and then Balotelli.  Without forgetting the penalty denied from Pandev at the end of the first half and Chiellini hit the post after 1-0.

The key The pride of Juventus was dragged by Diego and kept floating by Buffon, but it was not enough to stop Inter which confirms its superiority.  Because beyond the post that denied Chiellini to score 2-0, once again they show the distance in which a real team was not particularly brilliant, the same with Motta and Balotelli, but suddenly they make the difference.

  • 1' FIRST HALF: Inter's curva is not very happy at the moment for Juventus.  The fist banner is for the management team, the second is for the coach.
  • 10' FIRST HALF: The shot of Diego is not irresistible, the touch on the ball seems easy, but the ball passes under the legs of the goalkeeper of Inter and the ball ends up in the back of the net.  Juventus find themselves in the lead.
  • 26' SECOND HALF: Sneijder's free-kick hits the wall, fools Buffon and the ball travels to the far post, where there is Lucio with a touch and 1-1.

Indomitable Inter Comparing to the Super Derby, Mourinho changed for players: Toldo, Materazzi, Motta and Balotelli instead of Julio Cesar, Samuel, Muntari and Milito.  And the number 1 gives the advantage to Juventus by not holding on the right footed shot from Milito outside the box and passes between his legs.  Inter then try to find the equalizer with the liveliness of Sneijder, and the usual immense Zanetti.  Maicon was not very effective when it comes to the right side, Santon on the left, and Balotelli and Pandev receive few balls, but they can sure score when you're not paying attention.  But while the Italian is playing too weak, the Macedonian's cross hit the hands of Melo just before the half and Inter deserve a clear penalty.  After the restart, since the pressure couldn't do anything, Milito then come on for Cambiasso to form the 4-3-3.  The turning point, however, comes from Sneijder's free-kick which was deflected to Lucio, who stretches his leg to beat the pole for the 1-1.  Mourinho then took out Pandev and relaunched Muntari to balance the team, with Milito and Sneijder were very close to score.  The big push of Inter finally was rewarded at the end, with the saved shot by Motta and concluded by Balotelli.

Juventini, That's Not Nice...

Inter fans are some of the biggest idiot in the world. Would love to see them all put in concentration camps.  Balotelli is just an annoying non-Italian piece of shit. Hope he dies in a plane crash.

Fuck Balotelli he is black - oh disgusting!

I hope he lives through the plane crash but painfully dies from being burnt to death by explosive flames.

Balotelli should be shot.

Word. He is a classless motherfucker and I hope he gets gassed to death.

Balotelli deserves all the racist chants he gets and should be fined for them himself.

Balotelli is a prick. He doesn't deserve to die,but someone should punch him as soon as possible. In the face.

Coppa Italia: Inter 2-1 Cheating Scums

vs.

MILAN - Mario Balotelli scored a minute from time as the Nerazzurri came from behind to defeat Juventus and set up a Tim Cup semi-final against Fiorentina.

Inter were behind early on when Diego scored from a free kick. The Bianconeri's lead lasted until the 72nd minute when Lucio slotted in the equaliser.

With time running out Balotelli put his seal on another Nerazzurri comeback with his fourth career goal against Juventus and seventh goal of the season.

Diego gave his under-fire coach Ciro Ferrara something to smile about in the tenth minute when he burst past Cambiasso on the left and created space before firing a low shot under Francesco Toldo.

Balotelli forced a save from Buffon and Maicon sent an angled effort over after one-twoing with Pandev as the Nerazzurri fought for an equaliser, but the visitors created chances to add to their lead and Toldo made amends for his earlier mistake when he kept out a strong long-range shot from Grosso.

On the stroke of half time Inter had a penalty claim waved away by referee Antonio Damato when Felipe Melo blocked Thiago Motta's cross with his right hand.

It was just the kind of decision to jolt the Nerazzurri into action and Mourinho's men made the better start to the second half, but Juve threatened first when Chiellini headed Diego's cross on to the outside of the post.

A change was needed and Mourinho withdrew Cambiasso, introduced Milito and suddenly it was all Inter. The reward came with less than twenty minutes remaining when Sneijder's free kick spun off the wall and Lucio beat Chiellini at the far post to poke home.

With extra time looming, Balotelli stunned the Bianconeri with an unstoppable shot from close-range after Buffon parried away Thiago Motta's 20-yard drive.

Once again, Juve got help from the ref.  How the hell in the world that handball from Melo is not a PK?  3 wrongly denied for Inter against Juve don't worry, we still play them once more so it could be 5-6.  Not only that's a PK Melo should've received a yellow which will result a red at the end of the game.  Chiellini elbows Balotelli in the chest and nothing happened.

Anyway, enough about those cheating scums let's talk our us.

Santon was by far the best player in the game.  Great at defending and pushing forward.  Absolutely fantastic!  Materazzi owned Amauri all game therefore Amauri is Matrix' bitch.  Lucio was also very good.

What a blunder by Toldo you don't see that very often.

Fuck off Juve.  Zeru Titoli for you again.

During the match between Juventus and Napoli in Coppa Itlia, the fans of Juventus in Curva Scirea express their feelings with racist chants against Mario Balotelli, with the chorus of "there are no black Italians."  It was chanted several times.  The latest fine for the club in Turin was a 40,000 euros fine for racially abuse Nelson Dida.  Until you stop the games...

Different report:

A fine of 40,000 euros for the racist chants against Dida did not stop the fans of Juventus during Juventus-Napoli.  Specifically in the Curva Scirea with "there are no black Italians".  Shouldn't one do something to combat racism?  Enough with the words...

COPPA ITALIA Mourinho: "An well-deserved success"

Sneijer's goal, Livorno out: in quarter-finals with Juve or Napoli

Market: The striker of Bayern detaches Pandev

Oplà Inter

Attacks and the posts

The magic touch is by Sneijder

Many actions for an Inter goal, there is a free-kick that knockout Livorno.  The challenge in the quarter-finals with Juve or Napoli.

Milan - Now it's either Juve or Napoli  that they will take on in the quarter-finals in the Cup.  This was just a practice match against Livorno without great difficulty and Inter did do the work in fluency.  The punishment from Sneijder after an hour, plus hitting the post twice in the first half, by Stankovic (the best two players on the field) fully justify the passage to the next round.  Although Cosmi can rightly complain of the foul because it was non-existent, it was the fault of an inexperience referee, Peruzzo, who acted as the fourth official at the Olimpico.  The one that responsible for the expulsion of Mourinho...But that error didn't arise from the desire to give compensation.

Respect Taking the utmost respect for the public television views, based on his and Cosmi's formations.  But they played with a rhythm of a training session for the entire first half but the recovery was more lively.  Of course, very different interest comes from the stands.  In place of the eight thousand in a shivering San Siro (with about fifty LIvorno fans).

The key The match was decided on set pieces.  The Colombian, Rivas who owned by Inter, was on Balotelli at the edge of the area.  The referee saw a handball, which was not there.  Benussi forgot to cover his right, where, Sneijder plan a shot precisely and the shooting was delicious.

Other The Dutch and Stankovic were the most inspired in the evening.  Suazo was repeatdly missing the goal scoring opportunity, Milito with one mistake from close range, Balotelli was like a high school student on a courtyard.  It's Chivu back in the middle, with a young right back Giulio Donati with the unforgettable debut.  Serse Cosmi has, however, received confirmation of the fact that Nelson Rivas is a real player.  Candreva works was a top offensive playmaker in the midfield of three.
