Italian Cup: Inter 3-2 Genoa

vs.

Moratti and our management have to have a meeting with Leonardo as soon as possible after the game to discuss about this decision for putting Rivas in.  Nah, I'm just joking.

Anyway, if Ranocchia didn't make that mistake it would have been a very very good debut for him but overall still a solid performance.  Dude knows how to take advantage of large frame to block some shots and he did many times in this game.  Too back Materazzi sucks so bad.  He was out of breath at the start of the second half.  He failed to follow Sculli on the second goal.  Can he just be the next Inter ambassador already so we don't have to watch him again?

Class goals by Eto'o.  But the man that is truely back is Maicon.  Two assist for him today, a very good performance.  His runs are back.  He is back.  Leonardo is able to motivate him unlike Benitez.

Forza Inter.

Per FCinter1908.com...

"Materazzi: Guida la difesa con sicurezza e grinta ma sbaglia sul secondo goal del Genoa"

Lead the defense with effort and security but messed up on Genoa's second goal.

It was Materazzi. Love him but he's too old.

It will take time for Rannochia to gain confidence in a team of stars like Inter, but it will happen. I can see Samuel taking him under his wing when he returns. Patience!

Materazzi is still our hero. Rannochia is our future hero. Mistake can happen, but all lads knowing that win the game is their main objective at that time. And they done it.

Let's just agree to disagree. But I'll say this, I have one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sporting newspaper in Italy back me. But hey, welcome to the blog if you are new.

Ok, we disagree. The thing I am trying to say is that Ranocchia was out of position. He was not marking anyone, he did not look behind him how many players were there and so on. But I agree about Matrix even though he was OK this game.

Again, not really. At the very start of the game, Materazzi was in a better position of marking Sculli while Ranocchia was not. Ranocchia was in front of Sculli, therefore could not see him, therefore Sculli was not his assignment.

No Materazzi is not supposed to watch for 2 guys. The guy for Ranocchia, how about this, should be the one that he can actually see. It is not because he lost him. It is because that is not his job of marking him.

Materazzi was just too slow to react since he and Sculli basically started the run at the same time. Materazzi saw him the entire time. Materazzi should just retire already. Or maybe he should just stay on the bench and do his stupid dance with Eto'o every time he scores.

I'm sorry but no. Materazzi was watching one of the three Genoa players who he was supposed to mark together with Santon and Mariga and Ranocchia was looking out for Sculli who tricked him in a flash for his wrong positioning. There were 4 Genoa-players in that part of the area and four Inter-players. So who was Ranocchias guy? You think Matrix should mark 2 players?

I know he ran after him when he realised that Ranocchia was out of position but that's normal.

You should watch that second Genoa goal again because it was Ranocchia who failed to follow Sculli. Dont watch the short replay because you cant see it there.

You are absolutely wrong. Sculli was behind Ranocchia at the very start so Sculli was not Ranocchia's man to mark. While on the other hand, Materazzi was behind Sculli and made contact with him by touching him and fighting for postions.

The play started and Materazzi, instead of watching his main objective, looked to his left at two other Genoa players, who were being marked by Santon and Mariga. That is why Materazzi lost Sculli. Watch it again why don't you.
