OFFENSIVE CHANTS AGAINST ETO'O IN THE CENTER OF MILAN
In a well-known local place, Milan fans insist with the "roses in the subway" chants.
According to witnesses, a fight took place with his bodyguards.
Milan - It was not the first time and maybe it won't be the last, but this was "special" (in the negative way): because the racism episode against Samuel Eto'o, this time, it didn't even happen on the field of football, but at a place that has nothing to do with the sporting world, and that is not the reason to condone these kind of behavior. It happened in the city, even in the center of Milan. So the discrimination has no boundaries, and little count that comes masked behind (and justified with) matters of parochialism.
Derby and celebration: the prologue Another episode happened other than yesterday was near Piazza della Repubblica / Via Turati. But the prologue goes back to the previous months and more particularly the celebration day for Scudetto of Milan. For some time now, it has been one of the most popular chants among the Milan fans: "I saw him with roses, with roses in the metro... Samuel Eto'o, Samuel Eto'o."
The Rossonero tam tam The chant, heard clearly in the evening of the derby, has become a tam tam almost obsessively on May 14, in Piazza del Duomo and adjacent areas: the authentic soundtrack from the Milan fans during their Scudetto celebration. Here is the annoyance: the day before yesterday evening, a group of Milan Ultras, who were celebrating a birthday in the same room where Eto'o having a drink with friends, automatically fire the chants on about the rose. It was an action that made the friends of Eto'o very angry especially the bodyguards.
The precedence Less so for Eto'o, who unfortunately is quite accustomed to certain episodes and now he knows how to control his ation (almost resigned): certainly compared to February 2006, when he threatened to leave the field during a Real Zaragoza - Barcelona match because the opposing fans from the stands begun to imitate the monkey and throw peanuts every time he touched the ball.
The escape So, on Tuesday night, we were able to avoid any physical contact, although some witnesses said that the brawl was just grazed, the Inter player was furious but he had to hold back. In fact, the same Eto'o told that he chose a right decision and that was avoiding direct clarification and staying on the sidelines. And it all worked out when the the Milan fans, also because they were frightened by the body guards, chose to change course and walked away.
Better to minimize Yesterday, the Cameroonian downplayed the significance of that episode with a smile: not to retaliate has always been his way of responding to racial slurs or situations. And the small annoyance is that chant that is still echoing in our years: "I saw him with the roses, the roses... Samuel Eto'o, Samuel Eto'o": who knows how long we will hear that again, in the stadiums and perhaps beyond.
