SNEIJDER ON THE BENCH
RANIERI TO PLAY INTER WITHOUT HIM
From solution to problem: after starting seven games (and six losses), the Dutch to stay out against Catania.
Appiano Gentile - The game of a lifetime is without Wesley Sneijder. Yesterday, there was confirmation that Claudio Ranieri will face Catania without the Dutch. The club will return to the 4-4-2 and the man who is turning from a solution to now a problem will have a place on the bench after seven consecutive games as a starter.
Seven starts Wes recovered from the his latest hamstring injury just in time for the derby on January 15. On the bench January 22 against Lazio but then played the second half. Played entire game on the 25 against Napoli in the Coppa Italia while four days later at Lecce, Ranieri left him in the dressing room at half time for technical reasons. On February 1, Sneijder played for 68 minutes in that incredible 4-4 match against Palermo but then he took a blow in the foot and missed Roma. Returned as a starter against Novara, Bologna, Marseille and Napoli.
Tried all Thus, tomorrow will be the first game after months that Sneijder will stay on the bench for technical choice. It's not because that the player had just participated in a match at Wembley but he is lost in the search of balance that Ranieri wants to recover by using the formation (4-4-2) that brought him a seven game winning streak from December to January. The coach has tried it all to put the Dutch at ease from a Christmas tree formation, diamond midfield, 4-2-3-1 and also as a second striker.
Forlan on the bench also After Thursday, Wes trained separately as he just came back from the national team. Yesterday, he was in group but during a final practice game, he was finished with the reserve with Forlan playing on the left side. But even the Uruguayan seems likely to be on the bench so that he can become an extra weapon at the service of Ranieri.
Maicon There is one that seems destined for a miraculous recovery. Yesterday in fact, Maicon participated in a group session for the thrid consecutive day and he moved very well. The final decision will be taken between today and tomorrow morning but everything suggests that the Brazilian, who was likely going to miss the return leg against Marseille, will be a starter already on Sunday. In front of him yesterday we saw that Ranieri tried Faraoni with captain Zanetti as a left-back. With Alvarez, Ranocchia and Guarin are still training separately ("I'm close to return," said the Colombian via Twitter).
