Forlan's Situation: Going or Staying

Posted by Filip Karem on April 19, 2012 at 4:10 PM

The end of the season is quickly approaching which leads us to the "silly season" where the transfer speculations begin to emerge.  Clubs all over the world want to get stronger, younger and at the same time get rid of some players that sit on big salaries.

This is Inter's worst season in many years.  However, it seems that that fact does not mean anything for the other clubs that are "hunting" our players. For an example, according to Argentinian media there are talks about Forlan leaving for Atletico Mineiro.

Forlan's agent, Daniel Bolotnicoff, spoke about the whole situation at Inter: "There is always a possibility for Diego to return to South America, he has never denied that he doesn't want to go there. But, Inter are his first choice."

Forlan joined Inter this season, but it's been a really bad season for him due to multiple serious injuries.  He has had various problems with his muscles which resulted him being out of action for a good chunk of the season.  And as the management is looking to free up some space in the club, Forlan and other older players might see the exit door. His high salary is also another reason why he could leave.  Not just Forlan, other players have been rumored to be on their way out in the summer.  The media is talking about the departure of Maicon, and replacing him with either a free José Bosingwa or the highly rated Mauricio Isla. There is also the curious case of Chivu who is negotiating contract extension.

There is no doubt it will be a long summer with many changes upon us and who knows what it will bring.
