Julio Cesar In Tears: "Not Expected. The Mistake..."

Posted on July 2, 2010 at 2:06 PM

Interviewed by TV Globo, Julio Cesar speaks after the elimination: "I don't believe this.  It is a result that nobody expected.  We have been an unified group for three and a half years.  But in football these things happen and the world doesn't stop."  At this point, the goalkeeper was bursting into tears: "In football, you have 11 against 11, and in the second half we deserved to lose.  The first goal? It was a blow to the team.  It's a mistake that I share with Felipe Melo, I couldn't find the ball, but these things happen, but eventually I will take the blame.  But I'm thankful for participating in the World Cup, for the quarter-finals anyway.  You see, there's sadness in all...  I speak for the group, because we were very confident."  Then, said goodbye to the camera in lots of tears.

You are spot on SacTown. Melo was horrible and his red card was definitely beyond stupid.

Chin up JC!

It's sad they are out... Julio is one of my favorites. I am happy for Sneijder. I agree the first goal was totally melo's fault but he had ot be given a red card for stomping on a player who was laying down. That's just not football.

Is it just me or Melo deserved much more blame than JC?

1. It was an own goal. He jumps right at JC to cause him misses the ball.
2. Before the corner. Melo was right behind Sneijder. He had his hands on Sneijder's back. 2 seconds later, Sneijder was unmarked and scored an easy header.
3. The red card was beyond stupid.

JC, you are a champion in my eyes.
